of everything I have backed up to submit, I thought this was the most appropriate for today...
It was my first time in New York City (a couple months back), and I spent hours roaming Times Square and capturing the bright lights and bustle- my shutter snapping away. People walking (practically running it seemed most of the time), heavily-laden shopping bags and briefcases, or backpacks in tow. Shiny shoes and fur coats and bling bling and bright lipstick and people convinced that what they were doing was important and of the greatest urgency. People routed with their heads and eyes pointing strait and in no other direction except when watching for roaring taxis, ears deafened and desensitized to "can you spare some change?"
I was waiting for the bus to arrive to take us back upstate- and I turned and saw this man in the corner. We waited for nearly a half an hour, stepping from foot to foot and trying to keep warm. People walked by and took no notice at all. But why should they? He didn't say anything at all...just sat there, staring strait ahead, with sad eyes.
Among all ironies, I did not notice that he was sitting in front of a bookstore, until I looked at the photo later.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
